The Bangalore Institute of Respiratory Diseases and Sleep Disorders ( BIRDS ) is co-founded by Dr.Narendra U and Dr.Sandeepa H S. Both are chest physicians/ Pulmonologists with super specialisation in Interventional Pulmonology, Lung transplantation and Sleep Disordered Breathing.
DrSandeepa H S has graduated from JJM Medical college, Davanagere and did his post graduation in chest medicine from JN Medical college, Belgaum. After his post graduation he worked as Junior consultant at Fortis Hiranandani Hospital, Navi Mumbai and has undergone training in Interventional Pulmonology under DrPrashantChhajed. Then he went on to persue his superspeciality training in pulmonary medicine and finished his DM in Pulmonary Medicine from the prestigious ST Johns Medical college. He also underwent advanced training in Lung Transplantation from The Freeman Hospital, New Castle United Kingdom.
He is always willing to deliver the best possible clinical outcomes and has been appreciated among his peers for that. He believes and practices evidence based medicine and has been teaching the same to his students right from his postgraduation days.
He has keen interest in Respiratory failure, Lung transplantation , Interventional Pulmonology, Pleural diseases, Tuberculosis, Asthma , COPD, ILDs and Sleep disordered breathing. He has keen interest in patient education , health awreness and research in the field of respiratory and sleep medicine.
DrSandeepa has publications in various national and international journals. He has been actively involved in teaching undergraduates and postgraduate students right from his MD days. He is a renowned speaker and has delivered lectures in national and international conferences. He has actively participated in research acivities.
DrSandeepa is an active member of Indian Chest Society, European Respiratory society, Indian Association of Bronchology. Presently he is serving as the Joint secretary of Karnataka Pulmonologists Association.
Dr. Narendra U completed his graduation from prestigious Mysore Medical College and pursed his MD in Respiratory medicine from Dr. S N Medical College, Jodhpur. After his post graduation, he joined BGS Gleneagles global hospital, where he gained experience in interventional pulmonology, airway diseases and lung transplantation.
He is a disciplined, reliable and hardworking medical professional with a good balance of medical education and professional experience as a chest physician. He has proven and effective communication skills with patients, families and other medical professionals.
His areas of interest are Airway diseases; asthma, COPD, Interstitial lung diseases, Sleep related breathing disorders, pleural diseases, TB and Interventional pulmonology. He believes in and practices public awareness and community approach for the overall well being of the community.
In addition to above he has keen interest in academics and clinical teaching. He has been involved in clinical research as well. He has several publications in national and international journals. He has presented papers in various conferences.
He has been instrumental and has played a pivotal role in establishing Bangalore Institute of Respiratory Diseases and Sleep Disorders (BIRDS) in Bangalore with a vision to provide complete and comprehensive care under one roof for the patients, conforming to ethical norms.
Dr. Mohan. J completed his MBBS graduation from JSS Medical College, Mysore and pursed his MD in Respiratory medicine from Dr. S N Medical College, Jodhpur. After his post graduation, he worked as registrar in Critical Care Unit of Manipal Hospital for a short period, where he gained experience in Critical Care Medicine. Later he worked as Senior Resident in KIMS Medical College, Bangalore. At present he is working as Assistant Professor in Department of Pulmonary Medicine, Bangalore Medical College & Research Institute, Bangalore.
He is a honest and straight-forward in his medical profession, with a good balance of medical education and professional experience as a pulmonologist.
He has good exposure and experience in managing all domains of respiratory medicine like Airway diseases (asthma, COPD), Interstitial lung diseases, Sleep related breathing disorders, pleural diseases, Lung infections including Viral pneumonias (H1N1, COVID-19), Tuberculosis and Interventional pulmonology (Bronchoscopy & Thoracoscopy)
