Dr Sandeepa H S is one of the co founders of BIRDS. He has graduated from JJM Medical college, Davanagere, after that he went on to complete his masters in Respiratory medicine from Jawaharlal Nehru medical college Belgaum. Soon after that he underwent training in the field of interventional pulmonology at Mumbai working as a Junior consultant under Dr Prashant Chhajed at Fortis Hospital, Vashi. He went on and completed his superspeciality DM in Pulmonary and Sleep medicine from the prestigious St Johns Medical College, Banagalore in 2015. He started his professional career at People Tree Hospital, Bangalore as a Consultant Pulmonologist. His keen interest in Lung transplantation made him pursue short term clinical fellowship in Lung transplant at Freeman Hospital, Newcastle UK. He has served as Lung transplant physician at BGS Gleneagles Global hospital, Bangalore from 2015 to 2023.
He has a great passion towards achieving excellence in field of pulmonology. He is admired for his clinical skills and patient centric approach among his professional colleagues and patients. Apart from his clinical work, he is actively involved in teaching medical students and research as well. He has several publications in various national and international journals. Dr Sanddepa H S is a renowned speaker and has been delivering lectures and conducting workshops at conferences.
He has performed over 500 bronchoscopies and more than 200 medical thoracoscopies with excellent clinical outcomes. Apart from academics he is actively involved in various community activities like medical camps, TV shows and radio talks.
Dr. Narendra U
MD(Respiratory Medicine)
Dr. Narendra U completed his graduation from prestigious Mysore Medical College and pursed his MD in Respiratory medicine from Dr. S N Medical College, Jodhpur. After his post graduation, he joined BGS Gleneagles global hospital, where he gained experience in interventional pulmonology, airway diseases and lung transplantation.
He is a disciplined, reliable and hardworking medical professional with a good balance of medical education and professional experience as a chest physician. He has proven and effective communication skills with patients, families and other medical professionals.
His areas of interest are Airway diseases; asthma, COPD, Interstitial lung diseases, Sleep related breathing disorders, pleural diseases, TB and Interventional pulmonology. He believes in and practices public awareness and community approach for the overall well being of the community.
In addition to above he has keen interest in academics and clinical teaching. He has been involved in clinical research as well. He has several publications in national and international journals. He has presented papers in various conferences.
He has been instrumental and has played a pivotal role in establishing Bangalore Institute of Respiratory Diseases and Sleep Disorders (BIRDS) in Bangalore with a vision to provide complete and comprehensive care under one roof for the patients, conforming to ethical norms.
Dr. Mohan J
MD(Respiratory Medicine)
Dr. Mohan. J completed his MBBS graduation from JSS Medical College, Mysore and pursed his MD in Respiratory medicine from Dr. S N Medical College, Jodhpur. After his post graduation, he worked as registrar in Critical Care Unit of Manipal Hospital for a short period, where he gained experience in Critical Care Medicine. At present he is working as Assistant Professor in Department of Pulmonary Medicine, Bangalore Medical College & Research Institute, Bangalore.
He has a good balance of medical education and professional experience as a pulmonologist, is honest and straight-forward in his medical profession.
He has good exposure and experience in managing all domains of respiratory medicine like Airway diseases (asthma, COPD), Interstitial lung diseases, Sleep related breathing disorders (OSA), pleural diseases, Lung infections including Viral pneumonias (H1N1,COVID-19), Tuberculosis and Interventional pulmonology (Bronchoscopy & Thoracoscopy)
In addition to above he has keen interest in academics and clinical teaching. He has been involved in clinical research as well. He has several publications in national and international journals. He has presented papers in various state and national conferences.
His areas of special interests are Obstructive Sleep Apnea & Interventional Pulmonology
Dr Shivakumar K
MD(Respiratory Medicine)
Dr Shivakumar K graduated his MBBS from the prestigious JSS Medical College, Mysore and pursued his MD in Respiratory Medicine from the esteemed Institute of Medical Sciences-Banaras Hindu University, Banaras. After completing his post graduation he worked at BGS Gleneagles Global Hospital, Bangalore, as a registrar and then as a junior consultant where he gained enormous experience in interventional and transplant pulmonology. Currently he is devoted to serving patients at our institute (BIRDS)
He is a dedicated and disciplined professional pulmonologist, who works with humility and sincerity and possesses excellent clinical acumen and effective communication skills which he displays with the patients, their family and other members of medical fraternity.
He has good expertise in managing all domains of pulmonary medicine like , Airway disorders ( Asthma, COPD), Interstitial Lung Diseases, Lung infections including Viral pneumonias ( H1N1, COVID-19), Tuberculosis and Interventional Pulmonology.
He is a Gold medalist from Banaras Hindu University and has a keen interest in academics and is always updated about the latest aspects in pulmonology. He has several publications at national and international journals.
His fields of interest include, Airway diseases, Tuberculosis , Interstitial Lung Diseases (ILD).
